I’d like to talk about the Magome-Tsumago hiking path on old Nakasendo trail. Nakasendo Trail (Magome-Tsumago)https://travel.gaijinpot.com/nakasendo-trail-magome-tsumago/
If you like traditional vibes you’ll enjoy both Magome and Tsumago small towns since they have a lot of old buildings. Magome townhttps://www.japan-guide.com/e/e6076.html
Of course you could visit one town or the other but one interesting thing is to walk the old trail between the 2 towns. It’s a 2 hours stroll. I also like that there are a lot of buses going to other famous touristic spots such as Gero onsen.
Magome-Tsumago can be a one day trip if you are in the area or a stop if your trip il has a bigger scale.
Oh and for Pokemon Go lovers: seems they have a real world Pokestop in Magome.
