I'm so spoiled where I live - there are pay parking lots, but all our local shopping destinations have open parking lots. But it does make me feel at ease when I park my bike at one of these pay lots.
I've only experienced problems once with one of these systems jamming. I was impressed - a technician came right away to service the parking lot.
