Rainy season is upon us and the ajisai, hydrangeas like it! It appears that the Weather News website has a page for the current blooming conditions. You can see their page with recommended spots and blooming conditions.
Many of the varieties are originally from mainland Asia and some are native to Japan. One of my favorites is a North American variety, the oakleaf hydrangea, that thrives here in the rainy season.

Hydrangea are ubiquitous throughout Kyushu, too. I've been focused on close-up images this year, but here are a few of them.

Oh great I wanted to start this thread but you were faster ^^ love the colors of hydrangeas. Blue and purple are my favorites. here are some pictures I took at the park maybe two or three weeks ago (hydrangeas are early this year?)

My mom was visiting last week and wanted to see some flower blooms, so I took her to a shrine in Bunkyo that has a Hydrangea festival this week.
