Is Japan a good place to raise a family?

One foreign parent blogger I read notes some reasons why families love raising kids in Japan.

Here's another blog that asks, does Japan support growing families? It looks like Japanese young people don't see an opportunity to have families, but resident foreigners do. What's your take?
