When I was in Kansai for a week on a business trip, I noticed a lot of taller people than Kanto. Has anyone else noticed this? Or maybe there were just a lot of younger people near my station? Please let me know your thoughts. I was in central Osaka.

Some observations... A Canadian friend who preceded me in Japan in the 1990s returned in the early 2000s and was stunned by the increase in height. Lots of local people towered over her. I've noticed that both men and women 20s to 30s tower over me. A news report in 2018 says that the average height topped out for people born after 1980. I wonder if you noticed particular demographics where you were, a lot of Gen X - Bubble Generation (late 1960s), Ice Age (1971 - 1982). They were likely the tallest generation ever in Japan.
