The rainy season started in Okinawa on May 10th and is expected to last until June 21st. In the Kanto region where I live, it started June 7th and will likely continue until the third week of July.

Yeah it started early this year... I wanted to do Ume (plum) syrup this year too with the fruits at my friends garden and the ume too where early. Usually you prepare the ume stuff (syrup, liquor or umeboshi) in the 2 first weeks of June in my area but this year I had the ume and sugar in the pot ready before May ended ^^;; do you think it's related to climate change? Also typhoons season started early this year 😱
It's another strange rainy season in Kyushu. The rains started in late May, but it's been mostly intermittent.
The season started with a week of near constant rain, accompanied by an early typhoon. Since then, the rain has been spotty.
That, alone, may sound like tsuyu but instead of a (nearly) daily phenomenon it is only every few days. The rain just comes down for a few hours and is otherwise sunny.

I took this photo in Tachiarai Park yesterday. You can see the summer cloud formation in the background and this was only about an hour after it was pouring rain for around 90 minutes.
wow I didn’t know there was a calendar like this! Thanks for sharing!
