Now, some stomach bugs, norovirus, and flu are going around. I think I have gastroenteritis of some kind. For reference, it's called 胃腸炎 ichouen in Japanese. While I recover, I'm drinking flat drinks like Green Dakara and eating toast and small amounts of bland food like toast. What other foods are recommended? Udon, soba?

Feel better @Elizabeth TotoE My husband and I were also under the weather this week due to a nasty cold, that started from keeping the fan on us too long at night. We are drinking lots of tea, eating lots of cough drops and just eating hot foods, because we have the sore throat, runny nose and congestion, but no fever. My husband also says his work has so many employees out due to sickness. I hope Tokyo will get better soon.
I like to eat お粥 おかゆ when I’m sick - especially after a gastro or sickness from food poisoning. お粥 is rice porridge. I like this recipe from CookPad

It may look like a lot of steps but it’s not that difficult, very tasty, easy to eat and (I find) perfect for when recovering from sickness.
